We have the ball moving in the space that we want. So this gets us to the end of the first step of the process. Obviously these arcs are not correct but at least they're arcs. So it was on frame 8 and the next one was on 15. And I think we have to click there, okay. And now as I move, let's see, the first keyframe was on frame 8, select this. So watch what happens now, I'm going to keep the Control on. So you could sit here for an hour posing out a scene and then you realize all your arcs are going in square paths and your time has been wasted. I've just lost pretty much all the positions.

So let's do that now, watch what happens. So, the problem is in the Coordinates and Control Points panel before you begin this process you have to separate the X, Y, and Z values. And this will happen very easily to you if you're not careful. So how do we get these paths to arc? And here's where I can reveal the secret that I've done this incorrectly. Or you can use this icon up here, quicker. So what we see is the fact that we have straight paths and to see what this means just go View, Show, Control.

So let's switch Onion Skin off now And let's see what happens. So I think we might want to space these out just a little bit more. If you want it back you right-click and go Set Motion Keyframe, or Control-L and Control-K. And then you see the animation stops between the keys.

If for whatever reason you wanted to stop the animation, just have it floating up in the air, you would click on this intermediate point, right-click and go Set Stop Motion Keyframe. If you wanted to move these keyframes, it's this simple So click and drag. And if I want to make any changes we can do that here. And this gives me a good idea that it's more or less where I want it. So now as we move through the Onion Skin is red in the frames before, it's green on the one's following. And again we're losing the overall thing so now as I scrub through, and let's just extend the Onion Skin as well, so we can completely see it. You can see the Onion Skin's not keeping up so I'll stretch it back. And actually this is a good excuse to put the Onion Skins on, and just really stretch them out long. And I'm going to hit the ground on frame 8, let's go to that. So a simple enough action all I want to do is to begin here so let's start the keyframe, F6. So that should be frame 34 right at the end, great. If you're short of that and you're back here then simply grab the slider and go to the right frame.

So all I'm going to do is go to the end of this Timeline then go F5 just to extend the exposure. If you wanted to delete that keyframe just select it and hit F7, it's gone. So as you can see I've already made a keyframe just by the action of moving that around. And then when you switch off and switch back on it'll be more or less in the right spot. And if the pivot point is, if you've made your own and it's floating off somewhere be sure that you place it right in the middle of that ball. So be sure you have Animation Mode on and then we'll select the Transform Tool. So it's that simple so if you haven't got the exercise file you should easily be able to make it. And we have the background and it's a flat on view so I just used a brush tool or a pencil tool with a little dotted line texture on it. So let's just click on, we have a ball there, and it's just a basic ball I drew it, and I haven't grouped it together, it's just all separate and that'll work fine.

I'm going to go through a series of movies that will show you how you do the basic animation steps in Harmony that you're probably very familiar with already from Flash.
